British Gas HomeCare
British Gas Services the boiler and home maintenance division of Centrica is the largest home breakdown provider in the UK with over 5,500 CORGI engineers, 500 skilled electricians and over 1,000 plumbers employed through Dyno Rod, another Centrica company. British Gas not only supply boiler insurance through their HomeCare plans but also provide breakdown cover for gas appliances, kitchen appliances, electrical work, plumbing and drains.
Bournemouth & West Hampshire Water - Aqua Care
The property maintenance services division of Bournemouth & West Hampshire Water comes under the name Aqua Care. Plumbing and heating services are the speciality of Aqua Care and they include a wide range of insurance plans and services for all types of boiler, central heating, plumbing and drainage emergencies. Aqua Care provide their own highly skilled engineers and plumbers who are available to help with home maintenance and improvements.
Domestic & General - Heatguard
Domestic & General have been in the insurance business for over 50 years. They began by offering cover for black and white television sets and have now expanded to include domestic appliances, boilers, central heating systems and pets. Domestic & General currently provide cover to over 4 million UK appliances.
EDF Energy
EDF Energy is amongst the largest energy supply companies within the UK, providing electricity and gas to over 5 million consumers. The company re-branded in 2006, with the regional divisions London Energy, Seeboard Energy and SWEB Energy now coming under the umbrella of EDF Energy. The existing customers of the regional brands will gradually be moved over to the EDF Energy brand and new customers can sign up to this brand only. The company’s vision is to become a major UK utility provider, offering high quality services and products. EDF Energy offer heating cover through Direct Assist.
npower - home team
npower is an amalgamation of previous gas and electricity suppliers MEB, MEB Powerline, Calortex, National Power Energy Direct, Yorkshire Electricity, Independent Energy and Northern Electric & Gas. npower is one of the top three providers within the UK, offering a wide range of business and home services to around 6 million consumers in the UK. In 2004, npower gained the accolade of becoming the sole provider of green energy to Wembley Stadium in London. The company provides heating cover through Homeserve.
Southern Electric, Scottish-Hydro Electric and SWALEC
Southern Electric, Scottish-Hydro Electric and SWALEC are all divisions of the Scottish and Southern Energy Group. The group are a FTSE 100 company and have over 7 million customers in the largest distribution network in the UK. The company began offering their domestic customers heating cover in 2006 and have their own qualified engineers to provide annual services and maintenance. Anyone is free to join their heating cover plan, not just those who have Southern Electric, Scottish-Hydro Electric or SWALEC as their energy supplier.
